I was asked to sew these notebook covers, and I was able to use the remaining fabric that Darryle Pollack, from ClutterCast, sent me. I also made an Artist's Brush Roll using the fabric Darryle sent me. You can see the original fabric she gave me here.
First, I cut my fabric to the correct dimensions. I measured the width and length of the notebook opened and added about 1/2" seam allowance.
For each notebook cover, I needed an outside piece and 2 inside pieces.
For the inside pieces, I took a piece of fabric the same size as the outside piece and then cut 1" off the fold.
I then took each inside piece and ironed one edge in.
I top-stitched the ironed edge.
Since I sewed about 100 of these inside pieces, I simply sewed them alltogether and later cut the thread connecting each piece.
I then pinned the inside pieces to the outside piece.
I cut a piece of cardboard slightly larger than the size of the notebook.
I traced the cardboard so that I would know where to sew the layers together.
I simply sewed along the marked trail.
Next, I trimmed the corners.
I also trimmed excess fabric from each side.
I turned the notebook cover inside out and used a knitting needle to push out the corners.
I ironed each end flat.
Ta-Da! Finished, they perfectly fit the notebook.
